Special M

May is officially here, which means it’s time to celebrate someone special- it is Mom’s birthday! When I asked my 75-year-old friend Christine what her favourite season is, while we were sitting in the garden watching the fall colours on a sunny weekend, she said September without a beat. I thought she liked Spring, so I asked her again, 'Do you mean Spring?' She sweetly replies back,' No!, September. It is Mum's birthday. This is the person who has forgotten so many little details of her life. No matter how old you get, some people in our lives have big impacts, espacially moms have that kind of power. Dont you think?! Back in my "I know everything" phase, I swore I’d never be like my mother. Now that I’ve actually matured a little (Ahem!), I’ve realised that if I can be even 50% of the woman she is, I’ve absolutely nailed it. Of course, I could have done without the "family heirlooms" she passed down—specifically the ability to stress out over lite...

Life has changed..For good..

I used to be a vampire, Staying up all late and going to classes next day without a fuss. I never understood why people cry at the cinemas for a scene, Duh! It’s just a movie. Never had time to notice simple things, Life was an adrenaline ride. Taking risk without thinking about consequence was the “norm.” I had an “agenda” for my career. If you wonder, how can it all change after a tiny creature entered into your life. Forget about seeing an emotional scene from a movie, even hearing a normal conversation from a random stranger can make me cry now. Forget about staying awake till midnight, just 5 minutes past 9 is all I can do now. Realized little things have a power to brighten your day, Cuddle and a kiss can take away all stress.. Forget about that career agenda, any job that gives me “Me time” will do. Forget about adrenaline, sending a snack with "traces of nuts" is my biggest risk right now. Priorities have changed, Thought pr...

Once a year..

I went to shops on Saturday to do my weekly groceries, its busy everywhere..Every shop is trying to cash up on mother's day.. I'm not a big follower of any of these D-days that comes once a year like Mothers day, Valentine's day, Fathers day,Friendship day,Womens day.. I have my reasons.. Shops offering sale prices and packed kits, spa vouchers, flower bouquets and restaurants advertising on special 3-course meals and high tea to make mums feel special. More and more you stay at the shopping centre, you almost  feel guilty for not being part of it.  I went up to pay, just wanted to be polite and started a conversation with her..she said its been busy and she is working on Sunday, she will have to celebrate mother's day later. And she asked me 'How about you?' .. I really don't want to say anything and spoil her mood. I just replied '  nothing planned' , wished her good day and left..  I have a 6 yr old who tells me he loves me infinitely-Ever...

Happy B'day Mums..

This is going to be my personal fav , not because I’m a mother.. Just because I admire every single mother in this world. Mothers don’t just imply one gender, I'm sure you agree that there are so many wonderful dads who are so true as a mother to their kids/sometimes to their spouse too. So throughout this article when I say Mother-it includes both gender who does a fantastic job of parenting. Firstly I have to say I don’t believe in these much-hyped special days (mother’s day or father’s day or valentine’s day or friendship day etc.,).. Every day is special, every day we are reminded of these people the way we do things or a place or a food or could be anything you could relate to them. Don’t you agree with me.. I choose to write this post this week because I see Mother’s day banners everywhere from Cinemas, retail shops, restaurants, even at my son’s day care..And moreover my mum's bday coming up very soon..    Good reason to write something about it..   ...
