Busan to Tsushima Island

This time my friend invited me to her Sister's holiday home at Tsushima Island. It was a last minute plan as she was planning to go with her mum but her mum cancelled on her. So I got an invitation  which was great( I must thank her mum for this opportunity).  For the best trip , you need good company with like minded people. I was lucky enough to get OSM company, both my friend and her sister took control on the whole trip from planning the day to trying out every possible good food in town.  My friend's Sister Y was so enthusiastic to show us everything in the island.

Tsushima Island,Nagasaki:

Its one of those Japanese Islands closer to Busan and only way to get here from Korea is by Ferry. There is airport in the Island but flights fly only from other Japanese cities like Fukuoka.  There are 2 ports to reach here , on the north Hitakatsu Port which is only 50 minutes from Busan and on the south Izuhara port which takes 2 hrs from Busan. Whole Island from north to South is only 80 ~ km by road. So you can choose either one and drive around the Island. We chose Izuhara because our stay was close to the Izuhara port.

Day 1: 31st Aug 2015

We took the first ferry from New Busan passenger ferry terminal which was opened on that day ..The new terminal was huge, bigger than Gimhae airport with duty free shops and coffee shops. Our ferry was the first one to leave the port at 8am, so port staffs  waved at us(felt Royal..). We reached Izuhara at 10am and relaxed a bit while kids play.. We went out for traditional Japanese Udon lunch.. I must say food on this whole trip was luscious. After lunch we started our trip to our first stop Diaso (Ofcourse always start with shopping  and  that too our favorite shop.. haha) and some groceries to make dinner at home. It was raining that whole afternoon and we were tired too,..so we just took it easy  and let kids play happily. We had cozy home made Korean dinner.. Kids loved their Kimbap and Kimchi..

Day 2:

We started our day early and planned to visit Hitakatsu town. There are two ways to reach Hitakatsu from Izuhara , one way is coastal scenic road and other route is scenic mountain route. That's right, you read it right. Both are very scenic ,I cant say which route was most beautiful. I couldn't take my eyes off from the picturesque scenes outside my window. Coastal route we could see lot of small islands on one side and we crossed small country side traditional Japanese houses on left. It was one of  the best drives . We couldn't see many houses on the way or many people on the road.

First stop in Hitakatsu was just walk around the town and have lunch at Chingugaya burger. It was the best teriyaki burger I ever had. Next stop was Meuda beach, it was one of the unpopulated/unpolluted scenic beach.. Kids had great time playing at beach. We just relaxed watching them. After beach, we went to Spa next door and visited the Korea view point from where we could see Busan. Our trip back was even more beautiful driving around mountains. Our day finished with nice Sushi dinner.

Day 3:

We took kids to Minecho family park in the morning which was 1.5hr drive from Izuhara(Middle of the Island). Kids play area was huge with go-kart and other things in the middle of no-where and mountains around.  We took packed lunch(Binto box) to the park, so we had a relaxed morning with kids playing at the park. In the afternoon we visited Mt. Eboshidake Observatory view point, we could see lot of small islands from the view point and drove to the scenic Watatsumi Shrine which was facing a beautiful water and Mountain as backdrop. It was so beautiful. On our way back to Izuhara we stopped at stable to watch horses. Kids loved it. We finished our  day with nice steak dinner with beautiful view to the ocean.

Day 4: Last day

We started our day with delicious Japanese breakfast and then walked around Izuhara town & did some duty free shopping. Then we visited the tomb of last Korean princess who married Japanese king. We finished our trip with a nice Italian lunch and last but not the least, one last trip to Diaso :) what a great way to finish our Mums & bubs trip :)

                                                         Fooood !!! YUMMM!!!

                                                    iConic shops of Japan!!!!

This was an OSM Japanese experience I would say to stay in Japanese traditional house and had delicious Japanese food and seeing the unpopulated/Unpolluted beauty of Japan. I must thank my friend and her sister who went beyond their way to make me feel comfortable in every possible way. I feel so blessed. I would definitely go back to this Island again if I get a chance..

Hope you enjoyed my write up.. Arigatou gozaimasu!!!
