Weekend with George - the Giraffe

George – The Giraffe came home last weekend to spend some time with us.. Aaryan was so excited to have a guest of his own and acted like a perfect HOST. As my mom, I’m so impressed & proud of my little one.. Snapshot of their weekend goes like this..

It all started with Aaryan’s favourite Friday Movie night, Aaryan and George chose to watch Aladdin. George said he never watched a full movie ever, he tend to doze off usually. But not this time. Aladdin kept them awake with his magic Mat and funny Genie.

Saturday Morning started with a Cheese toast for both of them. Aaryan and George came up with a clever idea of having chair on top of a chair, so George can reach the table.


Then Aaryan took George for a ride to Springvale Library to drop books.


Later Aaryan took George to his Piano Class. He played a song for George. George was so impressed with Aaryan. George tried his hands on Piano too.





Having a perfect autumn day on Saturday, after lunch Aaryan thought its good idea to play Cricket with George. Aaryan did his first ever catch and that was perfect for George to witness. Aaryan & George won Gold Medal beating his dad.




After Cricket, it’s some shopping time with George at Southland. George helped Aaryan pick the best gift for his friend M. They deserved an ice cream for afternoon tea. Aaryan went for Chocolate and George chose Strawberry Ice cream. Yumm!!! They both had great time giggling and laughing while having their ice cream.



For Saturday night dinner, Aaryan wanted to take George to City. We took George for a night ride and had an amazing dinner in the City. George ate so much, he could hardly move. Aaryan and George slept off on our way back home from City.

Sunday Morning, Aaryan took George to his Tennis Class and showed him some tricks.. Kids came home for Pancakes. Aaryan shared his Sunday Pancakes with George. They then started to build tall things in Lego.

After lunch, Aaryan wanted to show George to his little friend V. We all went to Werribee Park/Mansion for a nice Sunday afternoon stroll. Kids had great fun playing football in the park. Weekend went quick and Its time to say Good-Bye to George. George thanked Aaryan for being a wonderful host, sharing toys and weekend with him.

Rule of thumb for a blind date is to trust the process and to go on a date with no/zero expectation. You do not know who you are meeting until you see them. My dear pre-teen,  Part of me wants you to stay young and innocent, but life gets to us all and you grow, and I have to grow as well. First, I want to thank you for putting up with me and my parental demands. You take me by surprise every single day with your patience, focus, attitude, and how you face challenges that are thrown at you. I’m so grateful to watch you grow the way you are growing with kindness, satirical sarcasm, to-the-point-arguments, your excitement to be involved in every adult conversation, and your logical and strategic thinking- you are the best ‘IDEA’ man I know in this world. Thanks for teaching me how to reach for the moon and stars.  This is going to be a big year where you are going to face your first breakups and first ‘goodbyes’ to the wonderful community of friends you grew up with. 12 to Twelve - Wisdom Sparkles

Often, I have a casual conversation with A and get surprised by some of his responses which I find very profound. I don't know whether he understands the meaning of it or it's the way children brain work - stick to rudimentary thinking, we adults complicate everything unnecessarily. I have recorded so many of our conversations in my other related posts, but this one deserves a post on its own. Little things matter  be it a gesture of care or love, last night I was down (blame the hormones!!) and was lying next to Aaryan who was busy watching TV. I turned around and asked him whether he would love me forever, he asked me “ What do you want me to say amma! ”. He was genuine when he asked me what I wanted to hear so I would feel better. He knew it was a silly question that I asked, but his presence of mind to check with me when I was feeling low was true blessing.
