Pleading guilty or not guilty ?!

Welcome to the latest episode of "Things My Son Thinks I Broke," where the situations are tiny but the reactions are massive! My theory is that whenever A has a free day, he must create some miniature-sized drama to ruin the day, and I am, of course, the unsuspecting co-star. This particular Saturday was supposed to be a fun day—no sports for the first time in eight months, a beautiful sunny winter day, and a road trip with a packed lunch and snacks! What could possibly go wrong? PC:Google image Turns out, me trying to get ready is what goes wrong. I get ready and come out to see that G was giving A a serious dressing-down. This was my first sign of trouble since arguments are usually my territory. I quickly discovered the crime: apparently, the Eiffel Tower was broken. Not the real one, mind you, but a cardboard replica A had built five years ago. He was furious, and I, in a moment of maternal brilliance, decided to lie. "I didn't break it," I said, " alt...

The Sweet proposal

Image
“Will you marry me? “ He popped "THE" question with no warning what-so-ever. I didn’t reply anything but gave a smile. I must say It is the sweetest thing I heard in a while apart from the million I LOVE YOUs ’ I hear every day. This is about the sweet proposal I received recently from my 6 yr old.. Life gets crazy-hectic with everything recently at home/school/work.   Sometimes I feel I need a breathing space.   We all do.. I’m not alone.. When you hear something you didn’t expect to hear from your 6yr old, it kicks all the stress and problems far away. It wasn’t on Valentine’s day, so it wasn’t planned <Well! Technically, he knows only his b-day and Santa> However, It was a day in  FEB. It was time to tuck A in for his baby sleep and good night kiss. He then added “ Why do I need to wait for few more years? Can't we just marry now?” I couldn’t help but smile again, I sat next to him.. “ I love you too baby.. But it’s not legal to ma...

My Smarty pants..

1.       A: Mom, How many more years I will be in school? Me: You got another 20 yrs to go baby.. A: how many years we live until?? <Talk about sarcasm> Me: Dude you haven’t even started Grade 1 yet!!  2.        Me: A! I can say 4 not-so-impressive things you did today ,  tell me one good thing you did to make me less angry! <I sound so upset> A: I helped Ta setup tea table by keeping empty cups on the table Me: When?  A: While you were watching TV!! Me: <Right back at me!!! couldn’t stop smiling> 3.        A: Ma, what happens when I press the number on the lift for the floor I am in ? Will the lift door stay open? Or lift goes down to ground and comes back again to same floor? <This came out of nowhere while getting ready to sleep> 4.        Me: A! what’s opposite of OFF A: Not Off Me: its ON.. Me: UP ...

No thank you

Image
No thank you!! This is one sentence I hear a lot from A these days.. So much for keeping up on manners, he uses it in all the wrong places.     Me: A, we are off to temple in 10 mins.. A: No thank you ***************** Me: A , can you get my mobile from the table A: No thank you ***************** Me: A, practice your piano notes please A: No thank you ***************** Me: A, pick up all the things on the floor(mess he made) A: No thank you ***************** Me: A, get your reader and read it for me please A: No thank you ***************** Me: (A hugging me tightly) I’m getting late for work A, let me go.. A: No thank you ***************** Me: when will you go all chubby and cute again like when you were 2yrs.. A: No thank you ***************** See what I have to deal!!  Its no joke.. #lifeofA'sMom

Who is in-charge?? Part -2

Have you ever been interrogated?  I’ve been!!! Only recently.. Don’t try to guess who interrogated me!?.. It’s not my mom!! its not G!!  Yap,you guessed it right.. Just read on to see how it went.. Its school holidays, my curious gorge is home with granny.. I kept lot of activities/tasks to keep him busy at home. I usually pick A from school at 5'o clock. He is home today, so I don't need to worry about pickup. My train line is shut for maintenance during school holidays. I had to take different train which means I reach home little later than my usual time. He calls me exactly at 5’o clock when I’m just reaching the station (now he knows how to check time) A: Hello ma!! Me: Hey baby.. A: Where are you? Me: I’m in train?! A: but ..but its 5’o clock, you should be home by now!! You usually pick me up at 5!!?? Me: Yea Baby!! Today I’m in different train. This train only reaches the station at 5’o clock A: Why didn’t you take one train before? Me...

The Money Talk

Image
I didn’t expect to have “Money talk” with my little Man this early... It happened yesterday with no signs or warning bells.. I wouldn’t say the talk went great, read till the end to see what happens.. A: Mom, where do you buy money? Me: you can’t buy money baby..You need to work for it. A:   No, but who gives you money? Me: My boss A: where does she get it? Me: From her boss A: so that boss has lots of money??? Me: No, he gets it from Bank A: what happens if all the money in the world is gone Me: they print new ones.. A: how? Me: Banks have a printer to print money A: oh yea, I have seen them.. I was confused and asked him Me: where? A: in my school office room, I have seen a copier machine!!! Me: No, not that copier.. Banks have their own and that’s where Money gets printed.. A: Yea, I know.. I was just tricking you.. ha ha ha <Laughs uncontrollably) I should’ve known this.. that’s Cheeky boy and poor me for you!!! FYI, picture in...

Beware: New school parent !!

Image
My blog has been quite last few weeks as the first-time-school-parent getting used to school routines. I’m still not sure whether I’m doing it all and right.. I always have a feeling I missed something. Everyone asks how is he coping at school? My answer is he is coping very well much better than I am. His usual routine to and from & at home is same. But for me, I’m still getting used to the fact that I must remember to book/cancel his after care, make sure I read the news letters and all other 10 notifications from school EVERYDAY and making sure to send his absence notes to school when he is sick, other blahs. This is just administrative work, other than this, packing the lunch box, snack box, fruit box.. I can hear you saying ‘Tell me about it!’...Yea right, I do not remember having so many choices when I was a kid. There was only one break for lunch, we never had TWO snack break in school... Not just any snack, it has to be a healthy one, which is the hardest part......

Aren't we all??

What do you know about Avatars?? If you know me well, this post isn't about James Cameron’s Avatar or Lord Vishnu’s* Avatar.  Its about A’s understanding of Avatar.. There are days he gets in to my nervous (and vice versa) , but there are times he just takes me by surprise. Few days back I was talking to G about a book I was reading and the topic went on to Buddha.. as always A interrupts us and asks ‘Who is Buddha?’ Me: He is another God or Angel who came to help us.. Like Jesus, Rama.. Another Avatar of God.. A: what is Avatar? Me: Avatar is another form of same thing.. like Vishnu Swamy taking different avatars to helps us, he came down as Turtle, Fish, lion, Krishna .... After few minutes...  A: Ma, you know even we are avatars??! Me: <Blank> okayyyy!!?? A: When we were little we look different and as we grow we keep changing..So we also have different Avatars just like Vishnu Swamy..  Me:  <Totally surprised by his response..St...

Am I losing my mind??

Image
I used to be that person who remembers every detail of an incident/requirement in my project/meeting notes/an issue at work/an email which came few months back etc., Not just remembers, remember to the last detail. Senior colleague of mine used to check with me the recap of last meeting before we meet our vendors. Yes, I am so proud of it..Why not!!! ..  I’m sure what you are thinking now “Where are you going with self-praising post of yours’ ?”   Okay, I think I’m becoming a DORY!!  What!!!.Okay, NOT that dramatic yet!! But seems like I’m getting there. Those who haven’t watched Finding Dory yet, I’m talking about Forgetfulness or Absent-mindedness !! Recently, I'm experiencing lot of  'Oopsy I forgot' moments especially I forget where I keep my precious things, my important appointments, my tasks and actions. Remembering the last detail become thing of the  past. One good example from last week is when I forgot A’s water bottle to his tennis class.....

Sorry for saying Sorry!!

My day doesn't go without having a Aww or Sigh  mommy moment.  Just amazed by A's cheekiness as you know from my prev posts and his clever responses. Sometimes I forget I'm a parent, I give up and laugh by his response.. I’m not alone in this, I’m sure every parent go through this.. Here I'm capturing my recent Aww and Sigh mommy moments. This poster below just reminds me of A. Also I couldn't get anything better for this post..  PC:google images/Pinerest - This totally reminds me of A!! I start with my Awww moments Last weekend, I had a bad headache and I could feel the pain in my eyes..We were going to a b’day party, pain didn’t go away even after taking the meds.. A was so sweet to share his chocolate from his  goodie bag. I don’t know whether it’s the chocolate or the love(just saying!!) , it eased my pain.. I read about it later, apparently chocolates have an impact on headache!! Next day when we went out , he carefully packed a chocolate fo...

My Guilt Trip - A working mom's murmur

Image
Today is just another wet and cold winter day, did I mention it is gloomy and depressing too!!! We appreciate the significance of sun in days like this. The magic of Sun/even the thought of a bright sunny day can brighten your mood and feel energized. I don’t like to generalize a concept and  shut my mind with just that. I appreciate what winter gives us esp the smell of nature on a rainy day, early morning fog and the leaf-less trees etc.,  But today is one of those days I'm not sure even Sun can brighten my mood. A is sick at home with G, I’m at work thinking about him.. I have a busy day ahead but its just hard to keep the thoughts of my lil one at bay. Days like this, you cannot avoid your responsibility to deliver things at work but have the guilt factor that you should be next to him giving him the cuddle and comfort he needed the most. There is no doubt at this very minute he is getting pampered(the best) by his dad at home. Isn't every working mom’s guilt or ...

Who is in-charge here!!

Image
Often I have to remind A that G & I are (its mostly Me!!) the authority in the house.. still he doesn’t get it.. Once I told him for something he was refusing to do “You have no choice A!! you just have to do this (in other words ‘ coz I said so )”.. Now I get to hear this all the time from A.. Other day I was driving, he was talking to me about his day and he asked me something, which I did not agree. He replied back to me saying “ Mom, you don’t have any choice, you just have to do this ”.. I was like “What!! Why!? “ But he was pretty clear in his statement and gave me the reason Why- unfortunately I couldn’t deny him.. Which makes me think, my god! my little rat is trying to act smart and taking my role..    Yesterday, I asked him to get my mobile from the study table (me being LAZY and he was playing & had all the energy in the house)..He refused to do it..I said ok and gone quite (he knew I wasn’t happy!) . After a while I was scanning the pantry for my ...

Life after death..

Last year G's granny passed away and he had to go to India to participate in the final rituals.. I had to explain A what happened to his great-granny..The conversation went like this Me: A!! Ta's granny went to God. We won't be able to see her when we go to India next time. Ta has to go to India to see her one last time.Okay!! A: oh!!! Why did she go to GOD? Me: Because god wanted her to come back to him A:Which God ? <Considering we have 'n' number of God for every thing> Me: I think Lord Vishnu,  as great granny is quite fond of Lord Vishnu. A: What happens now? Me: God will send her back as a Baby to someones' house.. A: Whose house? Me: I don't know..Only god knows where she goes next.. After few months.. this "After-life" topic comes on and off in our conversations.. Because A is just curious little monkey. One day, A: Ma!! Which god you like? <Without knowing where this is heading>  Me : Lord Krishna !! Bec...

Story of a nagging mom!!!

Chapter -1 A was lying on the couch and lazing... while I was sitting next to him and doing “Supposed-to-be-OUR” craft activity <Insert rolling eyes>.. Me: A , please don’t kick me!!! After another 10 kicks and 4 warnings.. Me: A!! I told you 100 times.. stop kicking me!! Just giving least interest in what I am saying.. A: you only said 4 times. Not 100 times!!! I couldn’t keep up with my anger after his clever answer, I gave up and smiled Me: Well, in that case I’m going to act like you. Next time you ask me anything, you have to repeat for at least 10 times before I respond!! A: NOOOO!! Me; Yesss!!! After a while.. A was in the Toilet.. ‘Ma! Im done’..   I heard him, but I didn’t respond.. I just looked at him and he repeated.. Still no response from me.. After few seconds I told him to repeat that for 8 more times..And he did!! Then I responded to his call..  <Yes!! I could be mean sometimes>...
