Bula Vanakka to me

Its been exactly a year since I blogged properly, I felt lost for a while.. Woke up today with memories in FB showing one of my old post and that motivated me to get back to my space.  where do I start? Guess I can start with what I enjoy the most- writing about my conversations with lil A . Lil A stayed home almost 5 to 6 months in last 1 yr with 4 lockdowns.  Pretty much staying home together for that long made us Tom and Jerry.. Just without violence..and more endless arguments for anything from who gets the snack from pantry or switch off lights at night to everything..  Recently he started saying "Amma, you are so annoying!!" often... and in few minutes he gives a hug or kiss to cool me down.  March'21 I went for a weekend getaway with my GFs to Keyneton, stayed 2 nights and 3 days.. I called G after dropped my friends .. A picked up the phone, and the conversation went like this..  Me: Hi baby!! A  Where are you? When will you be home amma? Me: I...

The Sweet proposal

Image
“Will you marry me? “ He popped "THE" question with no warning what-so-ever. I didn’t reply anything but gave a smile. I must say It is the sweetest thing I heard in a while apart from the million I LOVE YOUs ’ I hear every day. This is about the sweet proposal I received recently from my 6 yr old.. Life gets crazy-hectic with everything recently at home/school/work.   Sometimes I feel I need a breathing space.   We all do.. I’m not alone.. When you hear something you didn’t expect to hear from your 6yr old, it kicks all the stress and problems far away. It wasn’t on Valentine’s day, so it wasn’t planned <Well! Technically, he knows only his b-day and Santa> However, It was a day in  FEB. It was time to tuck A in for his baby sleep and good night kiss. He then added “ Why do I need to wait for few more years? Can't we just marry now?” I couldn’t help but smile again, I sat next to him.. “ I love you too baby.. But it’s not legal to ma...

I wish I had a Genie!

Image
“Mom, I wish I had a Genie” my 6yr old tells me first thing in the morning half-awake in his bed. I kiss and tell him “Me too!!.. “ I wish I had a Genie who can do the convincing job of making you eat veggies/fruits, I wish I had a Genie who can do the arguments with you when it comes to hard-parenting, I wish I had a Genie who can make us dinner and lunch   just like that so I can spend more time with you, I wish I had a Genie that can help me erase the memories that gives me mommy guilt, I wish I had a Genie who can make the day longer after we reach home so I can spend more time with you, I wish I had a Genie who can take us in the magic carpet on a ride to see talking animals and super heros, I wish I have a Genie who records everything we do together and play back those good laughs we had when I’m home alone after you grow up and fly away.. I wish I have a genie now..  I know I 'm only allowed 3 grants from Genie but.. I...

Lyrical Rendering by lil A

Image
Lyrics can be so dominant sometimes, you tend to forget about the music in the background and just concentrate on those lines.. Good lyrics composed in a bad music will never get attention. However, good music with good or bad or no lyrics can get its attention. That’s power of Music. If the lyrics are in the language I’m familiar with, I try to listen to the lines. I enjoy the song even more if I like the lyrics. This post is yet another A’s journey on sharing music with me.. A is my companion when it comes to listening to music at home.. I like to tell him stories about a song or an Artist or anything that keep us talking. We usually listen to the radio that plays peppy songs and sing-a-long when at home or on the drive.. This write-up is only few incidents from this year.. Thinking of them gives me smiles (even a giggle). I thought I will make a note for my hay day.. End of last summer, one of those days we were listening to 'Hero' by Enrique on repeat mode. I was a...

Home Alone!!

Image
Boys are on their vacation and I'm home alone. I have done this before, but this time the difference is the weekend. Last  time I didn't have to spend my weekend alone!!!  It was just weekdays(workdays), so I was occupied. Its been a week already,I can't believe how time flew. I have to be honest, I'm enjoying this lone time. I get to walk a lot to/from station which I can't do when I have to pick A up after work. I don't have to rush to/from work.. And I can cook something simple and relax. watch movies/TV during DAY time!!! <unlike wait till A goes to bed>.. I sound silly. Its true, I think small break like this make you aware of the small things in life and appreciate them.. Its all because I know for sure A is getting completely pampered and taken care off. No hard feelings/guilt/worry.. And thanks to A and G , they make it look very simple for me. I see their smiling faces in the pics they share and I smile ' This is how I planned this br...

A Letter to my boy..

Kannamma, Remember your first flight with me when you were 11 months old, I was nervous as hell. Nevertheless, you were so playful and composed, not at all naughty or cranky. You slept most of the time and made my trip lot easier. It is always a pleasant trip when travelling with you. I must admit you are a natural traveller. Be it a new place or a new journey you are always excited and on-board. You started sitting on your own seat (in flight) when you were 2yrs. You even refused to share your seat with me (it was aisle seat for both of us – a walkway in between us) . You sat on your own, watching some cartoon and slept without a fuss. I just sat there looking at you whole night thinking you might fall down in your sleep.   Our first trip alone to Japan with our best friends, it was such a pleasant memory you and our darling Y created except for the fact you both literally fought every day for the right side window seat. You heard it right. There are two windo...

My day doesn't go without having a Aww or Sigh  mommy moment.  Just amazed by A's cheekiness as you know from my prev posts and his clever responses. Sometimes I forget I'm a parent, I give up and laugh by his response.. I’m not alone in this, I’m sure every parent go through this.. Here I'm capturing my recent Aww and Sigh mommy moments. This poster below just reminds me of A. Also I couldn't get anything better for this post..  PC:google images/Pinerest - This totally reminds me of A!! I start with my Awww moments Last weekend, I had a bad headache and I could feel the pain in my eyes..We were going to a b’day party, pain didn’t go away even after taking the meds.. A was so sweet to share his chocolate from his  goodie bag. I don’t know whether it’s the chocolate or the love(just saying!!) , it eased my pain.. I read about it later, apparently chocolates have an impact on headache!! Next day when we went out , he carefully packed a chocolate fo...

Who is in-charge here!!

Often I have to remind A that G & I are (its mostly Me!!) the authority in the house.. still he doesn’t get it.. Once I told him for something he was refusing to do “You have no choice A!! you just have to do this (in other words ‘ coz I said so )”.. Now I get to hear this all the time from A.. Other day I was driving, he was talking to me about his day and he asked me something, which I did not agree. He replied back to me saying “ Mom, you don’t have any choice, you just have to do this ”.. I was like “What!! Why!? “ But he was pretty clear in his statement and gave me the reason Why- unfortunately I couldn’t deny him.. Which makes me think, my god! my little rat is trying to act smart and taking my role..    Yesterday, I asked him to get my mobile from the study table (me being LAZY and he was playing & had all the energy in the house)..He refused to do it..I said ok and gone quite (he knew I wasn’t happy!) . After a while I was scanning the pantry for my ...

Cheeky boy and his Ridiculous mom this time..

Image
To give you a background, I’m scared of invisibles scary beasts aka G-H-O-S-T.. I’m talking about anything related to   G-H-O-S-T i.e its cousins Vampire or its ancestors Draculas for that matter.. I remember when I was studying at University, my friends forced me to watch this movie which wasn’t scary/Ghosty but scary to my standards, I couldn’t sleep for months after that.. I remember watching a scary movie with my cousin once made me sick for 2 days.. Another time I screamed my lung out watching my own shadow walk with me in the dark (stop laughing!!! I accept that was a dumb one)..     Now you understand the degree of my phobia??!!.. Some could argue THEY don’t exists, it’s just a movie!!.. My lips are zipped on this matter!! We don’t want to upset the invisible-ones who can hear us.do we??   What if just to prove the point, the invisible-one comes around to wake me up –“ HEY!! I’m REAL..Dont believe those people!!! HAHAHA!!!”.. Can you imagine that.. I w...

Story of a nagging mom!!!

Chapter -1 A was lying on the couch and lazing... while I was sitting next to him and doing “Supposed-to-be-OUR” craft activity <Insert rolling eyes>.. Me: A , please don’t kick me!!! After another 10 kicks and 4 warnings.. Me: A!! I told you 100 times.. stop kicking me!! Just giving least interest in what I am saying.. A: you only said 4 times. Not 100 times!!! I couldn’t keep up with my anger after his clever answer, I gave up and smiled Me: Well, in that case I’m going to act like you. Next time you ask me anything, you have to repeat for at least 10 times before I respond!! A: NOOOO!! Me; Yesss!!! After a while.. A was in the Toilet.. ‘Ma! Im done’..   I heard him, but I didn’t respond.. I just looked at him and he repeated.. Still no response from me.. After few seconds I told him to repeat that for 8 more times..And he did!! Then I responded to his call..  <Yes!! I could be mean sometimes>...
